Chick and Bee Veggies

Lovebirds, Becky (of chickandbee) and Brandon (of Dailymirror) brought me fresh veggies from their garden today.  Aren't they gorgeous?

Whenever someone hands me a homegrown vegetable I immediately think of two things.  First, Costa Rica.  We just have to walk our property to find bananas, mangos, limes, and rambutan right off the trees.  I love how ugly and natural they look.  Never touched by a chemical; just God's original gift. Secondly, New York.  Our neighbors across the street growing up had zucchini growing like weeds in their backyard.  They would give us bags of them.  My mom made everything under the sun with them.  My favorite was her zucchini bread.

Paul asked me to stop by the grocery store to pick up a side dish for our burgers tonight.  Lucky me, I had these in hand for Paul to grill up on the roof.

Thanks Carmichaels!

P.S.  you might remember this post about their lovely tomato they gave me last year.  yum-yum

Louis Vuitton Arrow Display

107/366

I've been wanting to do an art piece with using arrows somehow.  So a few weeks ago I googled arrows for art to see what my options were to buy some.  I came across pictures of this Louis Vuitton display.  It completely captured me and I can't stop thinking about it.

A women's mind wanders so you known I've thought about everything.  Like "Who put it together?", "Will they let their employees keep the arrows when it's done?", "No way!  They'll probably destroy them all so it can't be duplicated.", "If I try something similar, will my cat try to climb them and brake all my hard work?", "Who cares, at least I could have a moment with this perfection."...and trust me the thoughts continue.

Eno's Pizza Tavern

Prefix:  Eight out of the ten times I have been to Eno's I've had some kind of bad service.  Let it be a lack of attention from the wait staff, to not getting the tables full order out at the same time.  Today was no different, but with a party of 14 your sure to have some errors.  Obviously that doesn't stop me from coming back.  Let me show you why...

My whole office went to Eno's today for lunch.

Eno's is heavily involved with the Oak Cliff community and has definitely become a Bishop Arts staple.  Owner Matt Spillers has been busy co-owning Oddfellows (also known for slow service and yummy food) just a block away and Union Bear in West Village.

The majority of the table did the lunch special which is a great deal.  My absolute favorite item on the menu is the Little Eno's Meatball.  It's delicious.

A little birdie once told me that they got most of their interior wood and scrap details from Orr-Reed.

Frosty root beer is always welcomed on a hot day.

I ordered the Small Farm Salad.  It was ok.  I'm not a big salad eater so I like lots of flavors to keep me coming back for each bite.  This one was just a little too bland.

Benton was digging his half-order of South Hill White Pie with added jalapeños.  Even though he said it came out cold, he was still talking about how good it was on the way back to the office.

Everyone was eating their pizza too fast for me to even take a picture of it.  Brandon and Jun practically licked their bowls of the Tuesday special Corn Chowder before I even knew they ordered it.

You can take the guys out of the office, but you can't take the office talk out of them.

The environment is special.  With little touches and details everywhere you look.  It just makes your eyes happy.

When you go, please start with their Truffle Cheese Bread, I can eat an entire order by myself.  Then end your meal with an Eno's Sundae Sack.  I'm not even going to tell you what's in it, but you might need three or four more spoons to help you finish it!

Corbett Wedding

My dear friend Stephanie married the love of her life, Kevin Corbett today.  I hung out with the girls as they got ready for the big event.

It was such a fun and relaxing afternoon in her Presidential suite at the Warwick Melrose Hotel.

Stephanie's nephew and official-new niece are the absolute sweetest.

Gina brought the yummiest fruit and snacks for everyone to munch on.

Stephanie's bridal party, Heather and Matron-of-Honor Gina.

This picture is of where Kevin asked Stephanie to marry him.

These girls are so funny together that I swear they should have their own show.

 Something blue.

Time started speeding up and all of a sudden it was time to get dolled up.

Nikki and Stephanie have been friends since high school.  I hope everyone is blessed enough to have a friend that has known you before you even knew yourself.

Kevin's mother is a true angel.  She treated me and everyone around her with so much kindness and respect.

You can tell behind that smile that she only has love to give.

Randee Strand was killing it on the make-up.  Stephanie used her for all her wedding shoots, so they knew exactly what to do for the big day.

Then the big man on campus, Paul Dyer showed up and I humbly put my camera away.  He's a truly talented photographer.  I would recommend him to anyone.

I knew Paul and his team had the wedding and reception covered but I took a few pictures for myself...

Congratulations Stephanie and Kevin!  Have an amazing time in Bora Bora!!

Living Room Renovation

We are dragging out our renovation.  If you didn't know, Paul can be quite a perfectionist and we've gone through so many wood samples and designs for the living room.  Since there is so much involved the timing has to be perfect.  We plan on creating new walls, wood floors, and custom furniture and they all have to be done in a specific order.

This is what our living room use to look like.

This is what it currently looks like.

And we just confirmed that this is what it will look like.  Well, at least the entertainment piece.  We wanted to take away the permanent projector screen and have a fireplace for when we're not watching TV.  The screen will come down over the fireplace and the speakers will come through the fabric that is shown over the fireplace.

Josh Rice is seriously the best designer.  He takes what we want and turns it into something that makes sense.

Here's to staying calm and carrying on while our house looks like a construction zone.

Off-Site Kitchen

The moment you walk up to Off-Site Kitchen you feel proud to be an American.  I haven't been to a restaurant that wasn't on a military base that showed the amount of red, white, and blue to support our past and present soldiers.

And when you walk inside you feel like a Texan.  You're immediately welcomed with smiling cooks in the back and friendly staff throughout the restaurant.  I knew beforehand that I was going to try their burger, but after seeing their full menu, I can't wait to go back again!

The amount of drink options was absurd.  They literally had every kind of drink you can imagine surrounding you.  I'm talking cans of soda, bottled drinks from Mexico, coffee, fountain drinks including Kool-Aid and OG Gatorade, fresh squeezed juices, and even beers starting at 8oz to High Life's 32oz Oil Can.  ...I couldn't decide so I stuck to a bottle of water.

We sat out back and with the fans and military netting it felt wonderful.

We played foosball while we waited on our burgers.  Justin was a soccer player, so he kicked our butt with Jun and I playing against him.  I'm a poor looser so I stopped playing.

I ordered a Stock Cheese burger.  It's comes with on-site ground Angus chuck roll and shoulder meat and a Village Baking Co. bun.  It was muy delicious.

The guys got Do It Muph-Style burgers, with roasted jalapeno's and smoked bacon relish.  Jun really liked the fries.  I looked on their menu and it says they use a California garlic salt.

Let's just say we were fully satisfied with content bellies when we left.

We will be definitely coming back soon OSK!

Love, Sarah
